Lip Reader to Text

Description

Lipreading also known as speechreading, is a visual way of "listening" to some- one. This is done by looking at the speakers face to follow their speech patterns in order to recognise what is being said. This project will attempt to develop a computerized lip-reader. The system will observe the user's lip-movement through a sequence of frames and convert the recognised sound to text which will be displayed on a screen. The project will regard the mouth as the region of interest for lip reading. All other features such as hand and facial gestures is considered to be beyond the scope of the project. The subject will be asked to articulate certain sounds which need to be correctly identified by the system.
